Star Wars Review... Starring Legos

Here we are outside the theater
It seems like every few years George Lucas comes up with some way to rerelease his Star Wars movies. I can't tell you how many times we have watched the saga.  Anyone who has boys will tell you that there gets to be a point where your world revolves around it. My boys are no different, although in recent months they have started to grow apart from Star Wars, which is fine by me; it can get to be a little much at times. Well now that the movie was being introduced in 3D, we thought that this would be a great opportunity to see it again, on the big screen.  I mean George Lucas is a genius when it comes to special effects, so there is no way that he could screw this up... or could he?

When George Lucas decides to make an original movie and stops pawning this Star Wars saga off as something new, someone let me know.  Until then he gets no more of my money.  He already has enough of it.

  1. Ouch! Remind me not to sell you tickets to my movie after I make it, remaster it, create a comic of it, turn it into expensive Lego sets, sell every kind of marketing collateral imaginable about it, then remake it with "3D" in the title but forget to tell you I didn't actually spend more than 5 minutes tweaking the old version to make the new version. I don't want my head and legs cut off by the very weapon I invented and marketed to kids all over the world.

    Thanks for the warning.

  2. Thanks buddy!  I'll save my money for the re-re-release where they actually add some 3D effects worth paying too much for.

  3. I'm just wondering how many dimensions this movie can be released in.

  4. Certainly the next release will be all in hologram form

  5. Pbbbttt!!  That's me spitting my water all over the keyboard from laughing!  You know, I'm one of those people that wishes I could just go back to the time BEFORE Episodes I, II, and III were released.  You know--when Star Wars was still awesome and not a commercialized sellout...before my psyche was assaulted by the ridiculous character of Jar-Jar Binks.

I have absolutely NO desire to see these movies in 3D, because frankly, the 2D versions of them sucked so badly that I can't imagine 3D being any improvement.  Unless they've rewritten the scripts.  Then I might go see them.

In the meantime, I'll wait for episodes IV, V and VI to come out in 3D.  Those I'd go see...not because they're 3D, but because they're just plain awesome.

Thanks for the laugh...and the warning!

  6. Well, there's always 4D...where they spray water and air and smelly stuff at you during the show so you feel like "part of the action."  I wouldn't mind light sabers descending from the ceiling or something.  That might be worth seeing.  Or, you know, just go ahead and make it interactive, like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

  7. I agree. Man I could watch the originals and be fine with that. I was fine with the first ones before he did all the new ones. I grew up with the originals.  Next he will do it in 4d where the seats move and stuff sprays at you....wait, isnt that already a ride at Disney?  MONEY

  8. I worry that my upcoming baby will only grow up to know 3D movies.  The "old" movies of my generation will unacceptable.

  9. The ride is GREAT... Way better than this. But I am sure he will find a way to make an entire theater move and charge us another arm and a leg to get into this "new" movie

  10. Who decided that every movie had to be in 3D.... Admittedly there are good ones but some should just be left alone.

  11. So how did you really feel about it? I was all set to go to the theater too. Darn it! Guess I will spend my money on some more action figures for the kid.

  12. With the whole gimmick being 3D, I would have expected better. It was almost as if he made the movie blurry justso we had to wear glasses to make it clearer.
