Wednesday's Window... Lost Schoolwork

Last week at my parents house my father went in to the attic to get down some Christmas decorations.  What he came down with was some old school work that I had done when I was in Nursery school.  I had just turned four, younger than Carter is now. It's interesting to see what goes on in the mind of a four year old kid, especially myself, who has no recollection of this at all.  I hope you enjoy this weeks Wednesday's Window, as we take a peek into my life 34 years ago.

I guess we all had really long legs and my mom had a big head
They still live in that yellow house
Shockingly this is what Carter likes too
I had no idea my parents were so violent towards me.  Someone call Child Protection!
My grandparents had this room in the basement I was terrified of
I don't know if this meant I had a thing for the baby sitter or not.
Some things never change, I still want to go on roller coasters

I am glad that I have kept a lot of the boys school work.  It's so fun to look back on what they have written and see what matters to them.  It's amazing to see their progress through the years.  The only thing I don't keep is anything that has glitter on it.  I HATE GLITTER.  How much of your kids stuff have you kept?

  1. I LOVE that! Surprised that there was no mention of legos actually! I see you stuck with the lego header - nice!

  2. We keep or were keeping almost all of my daughter's school work. There is just so much of it now. It was really cool to see that some of the homework my daughter had in kindergarten was the exact same that my wife had in kindergarten. Her parents even had some of her old work.

  3. LOL... according to my wife I keep entirely too much of their things, but I think long term. I look forward to the faraway day when they are adults and I can look at the creations from their youth.

  4. Most of the stuff at my parents house I had already seen or was in possession of myself, so i thought I had seen everything that they had kept. I love these little surprises.

  5. Isn't it fun looking at that sort of stuff, John! And, how cool it is that some things never change - like LOVING mac 'n' cheese!

  8. I'd love to leave a sentimental reply but I just can't get over the fact that your parents named your brother Dicky Willey. I know we've had this conversation before but it is still hilarious.

  9. I can't come up with a coherent comment. I keep laughing at "I get angry when my mother punches me."

    Oh to be 4...

  10. I love this! When I was a prek / kindergarten teacher, one of my favorite things to do was write down the kids' captions on their drawings. It was always so flippin hilarious!

  11. Thanks for another encouraging #commentday! CPS would for sure show up to your house these days for what you wrote...kids honesty is too funny sometimes! This is why I keep a portfolio of their art work. I wish I had mine still.

  12. My mom pulled together a few of the things she had saved from our childhoods too.... kind of fun to stroll down memory lane.

  13. This is a lovely collection! I was an only child and my parents kept similar stuff of mine. I have 6 who come home with book loads each term and I am afraid I keep very little. They still have their preschool Christmas decs which go on the tree each year and some keep their old work in their rooms, but I gave up storing it all long ago. If I had less children I think I would like to keep more
