Summer... Starring Legos

It's finally the first day of summer.  It's been warm here in New Jersey for a month now, but we haven't gotten temperatures that has made me want take pictures of my cars thermometer.  Usually by now we've had a couple of days in the 90's but its been really nice and hasn't gotten to that extreme level yet. Then the first day of summer comes along and it's going to be close to 100 degrees today.  THAT is too hot if you ask me. It makes me way to stay indoors, because for me especially, it's important to stay cool.

How do you keep cool when the temperature rises?

  1. I love it man. I am so jealous of your creative style. Here its been hot already. Tracys uncle has this awesome heated pool and no one ever goes swimming so we go and its like our own private pool.  She takes the kids twice a week and we usually try and go on the weekends. Its so sweet cause its just us and maybe some friends we invite over. Ahhh, good ol summer.

  2. My sister in law has a pool... we never go. We have a bunch of friends that have pools but they live like 45 minutes from us so it's not the easiest thing to do.  We like the beach, but depending on the direction of the wind it can get too hot there. Maybe I should buy a shovel and start digging a pool out in my back yard?

  3. We can't have a pool, but we can (and do) have a garden hose. Spraying four preteen girls is fun, easy, and since I end up laughing so much at their squealing, I like to think I'm getting cardio, too.

  4. Even though I was anticipating the melt, I still laughed out loud when I saw it.  Love these videos man.  Love em!

We use Celcius so I have no idea what 100 means but for us that is the temperature at which water boils.  So all I can think is you would actually melt.  It sounds hot.

We don't really get much extreme heat.  Just enough to make the igloo go soft.

  5. We love your videos! Great job.

We have nice town pools just a few minutes from home.  The water is typically frigid though.  I offered to buy a semi-inground pool for our backyard but I was outvoted 3-1.  We try to stay indoors until later in the afternoon.  Less need for sunscreen by then.

  9. Actually, right now Oldest is in his basement bedroom (a nice 68 degrees on this 98 degree day) making Lego people. :)

  10. We have a community pool, but I don't have the car during the day, & it's a nice 2-mile walk (mostly uphill, of course), & that's a bit far for my Little in this heat --- it's been over 100 for the last couple weeks here in Ohio. My sis has a pool, but it's closed for repairs this year, & anyway she'd have to drive out into the boonies to pick us up. I'm finally a SAHM, with time to do these kinds of things, & no way to get there! So we stay inside. I do my writing, the Little does her summer workbook pages, then we read together for a bit, play out in the backyard for approximately twenty minutes before we melt, & come back inside for ice-pops. She & I have eaten way more than our fair share of ice cream this year! :)
